Q1. Please give brief background and history of CBI Academy

CBI Academy is located at Kamla Nehru Nagar, Hapur Road, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and spread over to around 26 acres of lush green area. It started functioning on 10th January, 1996. Prior to this, the training programmes of CBI were being held at the CBI Training Centre at Lok Nayak Bhawan, New Delhi. Over the years, CBI Academy has emerged as a major police training institution and has made a mark at the National as well as International level. it was awarded with the ISO 9001:2008 Certification in March 2010, for Excellence in Training in the field of Crime Investigation, Prosecution and Vigilance.



Q2. What kind of training is imparted at CBI Academy?

The training curricula at CBI Academy aim at enhancing professional knowledge and skills in order to inculcate right attitudes in individual and groups forming an organization. Rapid changes in modus operandi, increasing use of sophisticated and state-of-the-art gadgetry by criminals, ever changing patterns of crime and increasing complexity of the case laws owing to judgments and orders pronounced by the Constitutional Courts on various issues related to substantive and procedural law, newer and unconventional types of cases increasingly getting referred to CBI for investigation, are all posing tremendous challenge to the investigators. As a result, there has been a constant requirement of upgradation of the skills of the Investigating Officers, Prosecutors, Supervisory Officers and Supporting staff. To uphold the trust and confidence of the people, a well trained human resource is of utmost importance and therefore a well structured training shall ensure constant improvement in the functioning of CBI.



Q3. Who can be trained at CBI Academy?

  • CBI Officers/ officials of all ranks
  • Serving Police Officer (Sub-Inspector & above) of other Police Organisations and law enforcement agencies.
  • Serving Law Officers
  • Police Officers of SAARC, ASEAN, African Countries.
  • Vigilance Officers of the PSUs, Banks and other Government Agencies
  • Courses requested/ sponsored by the Ministries, Departments, PSUs of Govt. of India and State Law Enforcement Agencies



Q4. What is the procedure for getting nominated for the training at CBI Academy?

Concerned department / Organisation can nominate officers for training in the CBI Academy.



Q5. How to get the details of the courses planned to be conducted at CBI Academy?

Every year CBI Academy prepares and uploads its training calendar on CBI website. Details of all the courses scheduled to be conducted in the present calendar year can be seen on the CBI website.



Q6. Can a private person apply for training at CBI Academy?

No. Only officers as mentioned above at question no. 3 can get training at CBI Academy.



Q7. Who imparts training at CBI Academy?

Training is imparted in the CBI Academy by experts in the respective fields. In- door training includes lectures, demonstrations, role plays, simulation exercises evaluation, tests etc. The trainers are from CBI Academy as well as from outside. Lectures on various subjects of Police work are given by CBI Officers working in the branches. External faculties both serving and retired are also invited to deliver lectures on specialized subjects. All the officers from the rank of SIs to SP are Course Coordinators for various in-services courses, basic courses, induction courses and orientation courses.



Q8. How can I apply for being enrolled as a faculty in CBI Academy? What are the qualifications/criteria for being invited as a faculty at the CBI Academy?

There is no such regular enrolment of faculty in CBI Academy and there is also no fixed criteria qualification & experience. Faculties are requisitioned form various Government departments and non-serving/retired officers are also called having good feedback on various subjects from earlier courses. However, anyone is welcome to provide his/her bio-data with complete details of qualification & experience if he/she feels that he/she is eligible and capable to interact or deliver lectures on subjects of police interest like criminal law, anti-corruption laws, cyber forensic, management, investigation, vigilance, banking, departmental enquiries, etc.



Q9. What is the honorarium paid to the faculties of CBI Academy?

  • In pursuance to the DP&T Order No 204/14/2019-AVD-II Dtd 10.12.2019, the rates of Honorarium to Guest faculties visiting CBI Academy for delivery of lecture have been revised as under :
  • Serving Officers         : Rs 1000/- per session for 75 minutes session
  • Non Serving Officers : Rs 2000/- per session for 75 minutes session
  • Experts/ Eminent Resource Person: Rs 8000/- per session for 75 minutes session



Q10. What facilities for lodging and boarding for the participants are available at the CBI Academy?

There are 2 hostels, viz. Officers' Hostel and Trainees' Hostel on payment basis.



Q11. Whether the vehicle for picking up and dropping the participants available?

The Academy does not provide vehicles for picking up the participants while reporting for the course.
