CBI FILES A CHARGESHEET AGAINST THEN ENFORCEMENT OFFICER FOR POSSESSION OF ALLEGED DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a charge-sheet in the Court of Special Judge for CBI Cases, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) against then Enforcement Officer, Employees' Provident Fund Organization, (EPFO) Regional office, Jabalpur and his wife for possession of alleged disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs. 1,19,84,602/- during the check period 01.01.2012 to 27.08.2019.

A case was registered on 30.09.2019 against the accused for allegedly enriching himself illicitly by way of amassing disproportionate assets in his name and in the name of his family members.

Earlier, CBI had registered a case on 27.08.2019 against the said Enforcement Officer, on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from the complainant. He was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- from the complainant. During searches at the premises of accused, incriminating documents including various assets were recovered.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
