CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST A PRIVATE PERSON ON THE ALLEGATIONS OF SHARING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE MATERIAL

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a private person u/s 14 of POCSO Act, 2012 and u/s 67-B of Information Technology Act, 2000. It was alleged that the accused was advertising over Instagram Account for sale of objectionable material including child pornographic material. It was further alleged that the accused opened different accounts over cloud storage and file hosting service by using different email IDs,& storing such objectionable material including child pornographic material. It was also alleged that on receipt of payments from the customer(s), accused shared the said objectionable material with them through Whatsapp, Telegram, Instagram and other social media platforms.

Searches were conducted at the premises of accused in Anpara, District Sonbhadra, (Uttar Pradesh) which led to recovery of a mobile phone. The mobile phone is being analysed.

Investigation is continuing.

It may be mentioned that a Special Unit “Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention/ Investigation (OCSAE)” has been created in CBI, New Delhi for matters pertaining to online child sexual abuse and exploitation. Apart from receiving various references/information, the unit is undertaking investigation of various offences relating to online child sexual abuse and exploitation.
