CBI ARRESTS A CHIEF OFFICE SUPERINTENDENT OF RAILWAY IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Chief Office Superintendent (COS), West Central Railway (WCR), Gangapur City, District Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered against the accused on a complaint. The complainant (a Railway Contractor) alleged that he was awarded a contract for Gangchal repair work at West Central Railway (WCR), Hindon City, District Karauli (Rajasthan) and the work was completed by him in December, 2019. It was further alleged that the accused demanded bribe of Rs.11,500/- (@ 0.5% of the bill amount) for preparation & payment of complainant’s final bill.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused at Gangapur City, District Sawai Madhopur and Hindon City, District Karauli (Rajasthan) which led to recovery of cash amount of Rs.1,50,000/- and certain documents.

The arrested accused will be produced today before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jaipur.
