THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN DEPUTY CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER OF CCL AND OTHERS INCLUDING PROPRIETOR OF A SECURITY COMPANY

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ranchi has sentenced Shri Nagendra Prasad, the then Deputy Chief Security Officer, Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL), Rajrappa area (Jharkhand) to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 1.30 lakh; Shri Nageshwar Singh & Shri Bidhi Chand, both then Security In-charge, CCL to undergo two years RI with fine of Rs. 80,000/- each; Major Raghubir Singh, Proprietor of M/s Ved Security Service to undergo three years RI with a fine of Rs. One lakh and Shri Pradeep Kumar & Sachidanand Jha, both representatives of M/s Ved Security Service to undergo three years RI with fine of Rs. 2.10 lakh each in a CBI case.

CBI had registered a case against Shri Nagendra Prasad, the then Deputy Chief Security Officer, CCL, Rajrappa area and his firm M/s Ved Security Service on 31.03.2008 u/s 120-B, 420 of IPC and 13 (2) r/w 13 (1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 on the allegations of submitting false salary bills in respect of deployment of ex serviceman security guards at CCL, Rajrappa area during the period 2007-2008. It was also alleged that Shri Nagendra Prasad, then Deputy Chief Security Officer, CCL entered into conspiracy with Major Raghubir Singh, Proprietor of M/s Ved Security Service and in pursuance thereof allowed deployment of less than 90 percent ESM security guards at CCL, whereas security guards were to be deployed not less than 90 percent from ESM as per DGR norms. The representatives of said security firm submitted false monthly salary bills and received payments for these monthly salary bills, causing loss to CCL. The other accused had filed false attendance of the security guards.

After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 16.12.2008. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
