TRIAL COURT CONVICTS SEVEN ACCUSED IN TWO CASES RELATED TO UNNAO

The Trial Court at Delhi has today convicted 7 accused persons namely S/Shri Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the then MLA; Ashok Singh Bhadauria, the then SHO, Police Station Makhi, District Unnao (Uttar Pradesh); Kamta Prasad Singh, the then SI, Police Station Makhi and four others i.e. Vineet Mishra @ Vinay Mishra; Birendra Singh @ Bauwa Singh; Shashi Pratap Singh @ Suman Singh and Jaideep Singh @ Atul Singh in two cases related to Unnao.

CBI had registered two cases on the request of the Uttar Pradesh Government and taken over the investigation of these cases on 12.04.2018, earlier registered vide crime No. 0090/2018 and crime No. 0089/2018 at Police Station Makhi, Unnao related to death of Pappu Singh @ Surender Singh and alleged possession of illegal arms by Surender Singh @ Pappu Singh. After investigation, chargesheets were filed by CBI in both the cases at the Designated Court, Lucknow. On the orders passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, trial of both the cases were transferred to the court of District & Sessions Judge (West), Tis Hazari Courts, New Delhi from Lucknow. The trial of both the cases was jointly conducted. During trial, 55 prosecution witnesses and 9 defence witnesses were examined.

The Trial Court held seven accused guilty and acquitted four accused. The quantum of punishment is scheduled to be pronounced on 12.03.2020.
