LIFE IMPRISONMENT TO THEN CONSTABLE AND FIVE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN DSP, BOTH OF UP POLICE IN A CASE RELATED TO RAPE AND MURDER OF A VICTIM

The Special Judge, Lucknow has sentenced two then officials of Uttar Pradesh Police namely Shri Ateeq Ahmed, then Constable to undergo Life Imprisonment with fine of Rs. One lakh and Shri Inayatullah Khan, then DSP to undergo five years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 50,000/- in a case related to rape and murder of a victim.

CBI had registered a case on 20.12.2011 on the request of Uttar Pradesh Government and taken over the investigation of FIR No. 706/2011, earlier registered at Police Station Nighasan, District Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh) on the allegations of rape and murder of a victim inside the Police Station premises.

After investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet on 30.03.2013 in the Competent Court against four accused including three constables and a DSP u/s 302, 201 of IPC.

The Trial Court held guilty the accused Shri Ateeq Ahmed, then Constable & Shri Inayatullah Khan, then DSP and convicted them. The Court acquitted two constables.
