CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT AND RECOVERS RS.31 LAKH(APPROX) & DOCUMENTS OF OTHER ASSETS DURING SEARCHES

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today conducted searches at the residential as well as at the office premises of a Senior Accountant working in the office of the Accountant General, Imphal which led to the recovery of cash of Rs.31 lakh(approx); gold ornaments worth Rs.18 lakh(approx); 78 Pension Passbooks with ATMs in respect of various Pensioners and other incriminating documents including construction of a multi-storey building; purchase of other building; paddy lands; investments in LIC; Banks & other Financial Institutions.

A case was registered against the Senior Accountant, working in the office of the Accountant General, Imphal (Manipur) U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) for possession of alleged disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.1,40,37,387/-(approx). It was alleged that the accused during the period 01.01.2010 to 30.10.2019, had acquired huge assets both movable and immovable in his name and in the name of his family members which were disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune to Rs.1,40,37,387/-(approx).

Further investigation is continuing.
