TEN YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO A MIDDLEMAN AND SEVEN YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO OTHER 30 ACCUSED INCLUDING CANDIDATES, IMPERSONATORS AND MIDDLEMEN IN A VYAPAM RELATED CASE

The Special Judge, CBI, Vyapam Cases, Bhopal has today sentenced 31 accused persons including candidates, impersonators & middlemen in a Vyapam related case. The middleman/mastermind Sh. Pradeep Tyagi was sentenced to undergo 10 years Rigorous Imprisonment whereas 12 candidates Rajveer Singh @Banti, Arun Gurjar @ Tinku, Mukesh Singh Gurjar, Uday Bhan Singh Gurjar, Ajay Pratap Singh, Bhupendra Singh Tomar, Kalyan Singh Sikharbar, Srinivas Jatav, Prabendra Singh Tomar @ Banti, Gulbir Singh Jath, Atendra Singh Gurjar; 12 impersonators Rahul Pandey @ Rajesh Upadhyay, Asish Kumar Pandey, Kulvijay Verma, Abhishek Katiyar, Suyesh Saxena, Neeraj Mishra, Anil Yadav, Ajay Sekharwar, Dharmesh Singh, Phool Kuwar, Ajit Chowdhury, Chandra Pal Kashyap and 06 other middlemen Satish Sharma, Devendra Singh, Prabhakar Sharma, Shivshankar Harijan, Dinesh Dhakar & Punjab Singh all were sentenced to undergo seven years Rigorous Imprisonment. .

CBI had registered the case on the orders of the Supreme Court of India and taken over the investigation of the case on 23.12.2015 from Madhya Pradesh Police. It was alleged that unfair means were used in the Madhya Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Test-2013 conducted by Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (VYAPAM) involving 12 accused candidates who had arranged and used impersonators through racketeers/ middlemen for passing the written examination of PCRT- 2013.

After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet against the accused in April 2019.

The Trial Court found all the 31 accused guilty and convicted them U/s 120-B r/w 419, 420, 467, 468 & 471 of IPC and section 3(D)(1)(2)/4 MPRE Act 1937.
