CBI CONDUCTS SEARCHES AT 11 LOCATIONS IN THREE CITIES/DISTRICTS OF UTTAR PRADESH/UTTARAKHAND IN A CASE RELATED TO ALLEGED VIOLATION OF GOVERNMENT ORDERS IN THE ALLOCATION OF SAND MINING LEASES

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case u/s 120 B & 420 of IPC and section 13(2) r/w section 13(1)(d) of PC Act against then two Districts Magistrates posted at Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh); lease holders and unknown public servants & private persons on the allegations of violation of Government Orders in the allocation of sand mining leases at Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh). Earlier a Preliminary Enquiry was conducted by CBI on the orders dated 08.08.2016 of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. It was alleged that during the period 2005 – 2015, 13 leases relating to sand mining leases in District Saharanpur (UP) were allotted / granted to accused lease holders. It was further alleged that the leases were renewed in 2012 and 2015 subsequently by the then District Magistrates which were in violation of Government Orders relating to allotting the lease deeds through e-tendering process. It was also alleged that these public servants in criminal conspiracy with private persons had executed lease deeds in favour of accused lease holders.

Searches are being conducted today at eleven locations including Saharanpur & Lucknow Districts of Uttar Pradesh and Dehradun (Uttarakhand) which led to recovery of incriminating documents. During searches, cash of Rs. 15 lakh (approx.) and documents of two plots were recovered from the residence of one of then District Magistrate of Saharanpur.

Investigation is continuing.
