FIVE YEARS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF Rs. 50 LAKH TO THEN MANAGER OF CANARA BANK IN DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore, has sentenced Shri H.S. Eshwar, then Manager, Canara Bank, Srirangapattana Branch, (Karnataka) to undergo five years Simple Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.50 lakh in a disproportionate assets case. The Court has also ordered attaching of properties worth Rs.4,90,31,838/- acquired by the accused during the check period.

CBI had registered the case against the accused on the allegations of acquiring disproportionate assets to the extent of Rs.6,47,75,873/- during the period 2011 to 2014. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed u/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988 against the accused in the Designated Court.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
