CBI ARRESTS TWO PRIVATE PERSONS FOR ALLEGED POSSESSION OF TWO CARVED IVORY TROPHIES

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an owner of jewellery shop based at Vikas Puri, New Dehi and his associate for alleged possession of two carved ivory trophies.

A case was registered u/s 120-B of IPC & Section 51 r/w 40, 49 & 49-B of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 against the accused. Based on reliable information, CBI intercepted the owner of jewellery shop based at Vikas Puri, New Delhi along with his associate ( a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad ) and found two carved ivory trophies in their illegal possession, which are banned under the provisions of the Wild Life (Protection ) Act, 1972. It was also alleged that the accused were in search of prospective buyers for these ivory trophies to sell the same for their personal gain.

Both the arrested accused were produced today before the Competent Court at Delhi and remanded to Police Custody till 03.02.2019.
