FOUR YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO AN OFFICAL OF REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE, GUWAHATI IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Guwahati (Assam) has convicted Smt. Anjali Das Thakuria, then PA to Regional Passport Officer, Guwahati in a bribery case and sentenced her to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000/-.

CBI had registered a case on 12.09.2014 against Smt. Anjali Das Thakuria, Lower Division Clerk (temporarily attached as PA to Regional Passport Officer) Guwahati (Assam) on a complaint alleging demand of Rs. 2000/- for clearing the passport file of the Complainant and for delivering the passport to his residence within seven days. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 2000/- from the Complainant. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 30.06.2015 in the Designated Court.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted her.
