CBI ARRESTS AN EXECUTIVE ENGINEER OF RAIL COACH FACTORY FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS.50,000/-

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Executive Engineer, Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala (Punjab) while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.

CBI registered a case under section 7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint. The complainant authorized by a private firm has alleged that the firm was awarded two works i.e Caring & Maintenance of Horticulture works in Type IV, Type-V Houses & in Service Buildings and supply of plants for nursery of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. It was further alleged that the bills amounting to Rs. 8 lakh (approx) in respect of the said works performed in the month of May, 2018 & upto 20th June, 2018 were pending with the Executive Engineer, RCF, Kapurthala and he met Executive Engineer in connection with pending bills. The Executive Engineer demanded the alleged bribe of Rs.50,000/- for clearing the bills and further informed him that his bills would not be cleared until the bribe was paid to him.

CBI laid a trap and caught the Executive Engineer while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/-. Searches were conducted at the office/residential premises of the accused at Kapurthala & Ludhiana which led to recovery of incriminating documents.

The arrested accused will be produced today before the Competent Court at Mohali (Punjab).
