CBI ARRESTS AN ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, EPFO FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs.40,000/-

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Eluru (Andhra Pradesh) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000/- from the Complainant.

A case under Sec. 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988 was registered agianst Enforcement Officer, Employees Provident Fund Organization, Eluru. It was alleged that the accused inspected the records of the complainant and in order to settle the matter of late payment of EPF contribution, he demanded bribe of Rs. 40,000/- from the complainant. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 40,000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents.

The accused was produced before the Designated Court at Visakhapatnam and remanded to Judicial Custody.
