FIVE YEARS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF RS. TWO LAKH TO THEN ASSISTANT OF FOOD CORPORATION OF INDIA FOR CAUSING LOSS TO GOVT. EXCHEQUER

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bangalore, has sentenced Shri K.S. Srinivasaiah, former Assistant Grade-I, Food Corporation of India, Food Storage Depot, Maddur, Mandya District to undergo five years Simple Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 2 lakh.

CBI had registered the case on the allegations that the accused while functioning as Shed Incharge of the Depot, had abused his official position and sent out 350 bags of Grade-A raw rice worth Rs.4,81,425/- through a lorry, to the black market, by tampering the entries in the office records which was in the custody of Food Corporation of India. Thus, the accused had misappropriated the rice meant for Public Distribution System and caused loss to the Government Exchequer. After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on 30.09.2015 against the accused.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
