CBI ARRESTS A SUB INSPECTOR FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs. TWO LAKH

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a Sub-Inspector, posted at Police Station, Sector-31, Chandigarh for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. two lakh from the complainant.

CBI registered a case U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the Sub-Inspector, posted at Police Station, Sector 31, Chandigarh on the allegations that the SI was demanding bribe of Rs.9 lakh from the complainant (a property dealer of Chandigarh). The complainant has alleged that a case dated 17.09.2017 was registered at Police Station, Sector 31, Chandigarh against three of his employees & six others and a police team visited his business premises to nab his employees and also harassed the complainant. It was further alleged that the Sub-Inspector had demanded Rs.9 lakh from the complainant for not harassing him and for favouring his employees during investigation and also informed the complainant that Rs. One lakh of the said bribe was meant for himself and remaining amount i.e. Rs.8 lakh was meant for the SHO.

CBI laid a trap and caught the SI red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs. Two lakh. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused.

The arrested accused will be produced in the Designated Court.
