THREE YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (VIGILANCE) IN A BRIBERY CASE

The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Ranchi has convicted Shri Hemchand, IPS, the then Executive Director (Vigilance), CCL, Ranchi and sentenced him to undergo three years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. 10,000/- in a bribery case.

CBI had registered a case on 30.08.1992 U/s 120B of IPC & Section 7, 12 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988 on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs. 25,000/- through then Senior Under Manager, CCL Kargil Area from the complainant to continue his contract work in CCL. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 06.03.1998 in the Designated Court U/s 120B of IPC, Section 7 & 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988 against the accused. The then Senior Under Manager died during trial.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
