CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST NINE ACCUSED INCLUDING THEN ASSISTANT GEOLOGIST & OTHERS AND CONDUCTS SEARCHES AT TEN PLACES

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against nine accused including then Assistant Geologist & others U/s 120-B r/w 379, 384, 420 & 511of IPC and Section 13(2) r/w Section 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Earlier, in pursuant to the order dated 28.07.2016 passed in PIL No. 22482/2016 and order dated 30.09.2016 passed in PIL No.29115/2016 of Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad, a Preliminary Enquiry was registered on 23/02/2017 to probe into the alleged illegal mining of minor minerals in District Shamli, (Uttar Pradesh).

Searches have been conducted today at the premises of accused persons at 10 places including New Delhi, Lucknow, Bhiwani, Sonepat, Panipat, Baghpat & Aligarh which led to recovery of incriminating documents & articles.

Further investigation is continuing.
