TWO YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF RS. ONE LAKH EACH TO THEN DIRECTOR AND THEN MEMBER OF THE ERSTWHILE NATIONAL AIRPORT AUTHORITY FOR CAUSING LOSS TO GOVT EXCHEQUER

         The Special Judge, CBI Cases, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi has sentenced Shri P. Rajendaran, then Director(Equipment) & Shri M.K. Ganeshan, then Member(Finance) of the erstwhile National Airport Authority to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. One lakh each and Shri N.K. Bhartiya, then Managing Director of M/s. Bhartiya Vehicle & Engineering company, Sahibabad (Uttar Pradesh) to undergo one year RI with fine of Rs. 50,000/-.

        CBI had registered this case on 09.12.1991 against then Chairman; then Executive Director; then Director (Equipment); then Member (Finance), all of the erstwhile National Airport Authority (NAA) and M/s. Bhartiya Vehicle Engineering Company, Sahibabad, represented by its MD & others alleging therein that the public servants caused undue pecuniary gain to themselves & to the said Firm and corresponding loss to the Government in the purchase of Crash Fire Tenders worth Rs.17.47 crore (approx).

        A charge sheet was filed on 21.12.1996 before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi. The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them. The then Chairman and then Executive Director expired.
