CBI ARRESTS A PRIVATE PERSON IN AN ON-GOING INVESTIGATION OF A CASE

         The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested a private person (resident of Hyderabad) in an on-going investigation of a case. A cash amount of Rs.35.5 lakh (approx) and half Kg of gold jewellery(approx) was recovered during the search at the residential premises of said accused person at Hyderabad. Earlier, he was absconding and also did not join the investigation. After concerted efforts, he was traced from Hyderabad.

         The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi.

         It may be recalled that CBI had registered a case on 18.02.2017 against a Principal Secretary (IAS-1988), Chhattisgarh Government: a private person, resident of Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh); another Private person, resident of Hyderabad (Telangana) and other unknown persons U/s 120-B of IPC r/w Section 8 of P.C. Act, 1988 on the allegations related to payment of Rs.1.5 crore (approx.) by said public servant to private persons as gratification for help in a case against him, under investigation in CBI.

         In the case so far, a total cash amount of Rs.91.9 lakh(approx) and 3.5 kg. of gold(approx) have been recovered during the search operations.

         Further investigation is continuing.
