CBI REGISTERS A CASE AGAINST PRESIDENT, DENTAL COUNCIL OF INDIA & THREE OTHERS AND CONDUCTS SEARCHES AT SIX PLACES

         The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against President, Dental Council of India, Delhi; former Officiating Secretary, DCI; Chairman of a Dental College & Hospital based at Garhwa; then VC of a University based at Palamu and unknown persons U/s 120-B r/w 420 of IPC and Section 7, 11 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act, 1988. It was alleged that President, Dental Council of India(DCI) whose membership ended on 31.05.2015, but in order to continue as President, DCI after 31.05.2015 had fraudulently acquired the membership of the DCI from said University of Jharkhand in conspiracy with Chairman of a private Dental College & Hospital of Jharkhand and former Vice Chancellor of said University by claiming to be Honorary Visiting professor of said private Dental College & Hospital and thereafter in conspiracy with Ex-Secretary, DCI, he became the President of DCI w.e.f. 01.06.2015 to 22.10.2018.

         It was further alleged that the President, DCI has shown favour to said private Dental College by recommending increased intake capacity from 50 to 100 seats in BDS course during 2013 and 16 MDS seats under various categories to the Central Government, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Dental Education Section) during 2015 despite shortcomings/discrepancies noticed in the functioning of the said College during inspection conducted by Inspectors, DCI during October, 2012 and February, 2013.

        Searches were conducted at 6 places, including Delhi, Kolkata, Ranchi & Garhwa at the residence and office premises of accused persons which led to recovery of incriminating documents.

         Further investigation is continuing.
