            The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against the then Senior Manager(Civil), South Eastern Coalfields Limited(SECL), Dipka Area, Distt. Korba, (Chhattisgarh) in the Court of Special Judge for CBI cases, Raipur in a bribery case of Rs.30,000/-.


            Based on a complaint lodged by a Contractor SECL, Dipka Area, SECL, Korba, a case was registered on 29-6-2011 against the then Sr. Manager (Civil), SECL, Dipka Area, Distt-Korba, Chhattisgarh U/s 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegation that the latter had demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 1,10,000/- from the complainant for processing of his bills pertaining to a tender of cleaning a drainage in Dipka Workshop, SECL, Korba. Subsequently, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs.60,000/- on the request of the complainant. The accused had asked the complainant to pay Rs 30,000/- as first installment of bribe.


            A trap was laid by CBI on 29-6-2011 and the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000/- from the complainant.


            During investigation, it was established that the accused abused his official position as a public servant and obtained pecuniary advantage for himself to the tune of Rs 30,000/- from the complainant, as reward, for showing his favour in the matter of processing the bills for payment.


            After thorough investigation, a chargesheet was filed U/s 7 and 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the accused.


            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial
